Homeowner shoots two area men after they break into his Tompkins County home
Two Tompkins County men are now in prison after they broke into a home in the County last Saturday morning, and were shot by the homeowner.
State Police say 50-year-old Mark Ward of Covert, and 32-year-old Frisco Meeks, of Ithaca, broke into a home on Rumsey Hill Road in the town of Enfield just after 7 o’clock Saturday. They were confronted by the homeowner, but refused to leave. Both suspects were then shot by the unidentified homeowner before taking off in a car.
Both men were taken to Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, Pennsylvania, before Ward was transferred to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. He was arrested on a felony burglary charge after being released on Monday. Meeks was also arrested Monday on the same charge and was extradited from Pennsylvania. Both men are jailed in Tompkins County without bail.
A third person, 38 year old Jaime Coleman, of Trumansburg, was also charged with felony burglary. Troopers say she drove Ward and Meeks to Packer Hospital after they were shot.
The homeowner was not injured in the incident.
