VALUE ADJUSTMENT BOARD VACANCY

The Martin County Board of County Commissioners is seeking applications from individuals interested in being considered for appointment to fill a vacancy on the Value Adjustment Board. All individuals serve without compensation and are requested to submit an Application for Appointment to Martin County Administration by Friday, July 2, 2020.  For an Application, please call Martin County Administration 288-5756 or send email to Donna Gordon.
Vacant Citizen Position:  The citizen must own homestead property within the County, may NOT be a member or an employee of any taxing authority, and may NOT be a person who represents property owners in any administrative or judicial review of property tax. The term for this position will begin immediately and end when the Board completes their functions for 2020.
Powers & Duties:  The Value Adjustment Board hears petitions relating to assessments, hears complaints relating to homestead exemptions, hears appeals from exemptions denied or disputes arising from exemptions granted, and hears appeals concerning ad valorem tax deferrals, classifications.
Meetings are typically held twice a year, during the daytime, at the Administrative Center, 2401 SE Monterey Road, Stuart.  The Organizational Meeting will be held in August 2020 at 10:00 AM at the Administrative Center.
Florida Law prohibits an advisory board member from doing business with its agency (the County). Section 112.313(3) and (7), Fla. Stat.
