8 INJURED IN ACCIDENT FRIDAY IN WEBB CITY
Authorities were called to a two vehicle accident about 4:15pm Friday on Highway 23 south at Highway 309 that involved multiple injuries. Arkansas State Police Trooper Ben Ibarra reports that Mercedes Hipps of Ozark was driving a Chevy Cobalt southbound on Highway 23 and attempted a left hand turn onto Highway 309 into the path of a Jeep Grand Cherokee traveling north on Highway 23 driven by Robert Sparks of Ozark. The Sparks vehicle struck the Hipps vehicle broadside on the passenger side causing extensive damage to both vehicles. The Cobalt was occupied by 7 passengers and the driver, all were injured. The two front seat occupants, Hipps and the passenger Harley Stuffelbeam of Ozark, with 6 minors in the back seat of the vehicle. 3 were taken by Franklin County EMS to Mercy Ozark and 4 of the minors were airlifted to Children’s Hospital in Little Rock. None of the injuries were thought to be life threatening, but were considered critical. Traffic was shut down in all directions for almost 2 hours as authorities worked the accident.
