Arrest Made for Multiple Fires in Jupiter
Jupiter, Florida – On Thursday, February 13, 2020 at approximately 4:00 a.m. Jupiter Police Department Officers responded to 439 West Indiantown Road (Walgreens) in reference to a fire in the rear parking lot. Upon arrival, officers located a pile of empty cardboard boxes lying on a pallet on fire.
While still on scene behind Walgreens, officers received a second call regarding a structure fire at 403 West Indiantown Road (Classic Furnishings). Upon arrival at Classic Furnishings, officers observed the building on fire as well as nearby trucks also owned by the same business.
While reviewing surveillance videos of the surrounding area, it was discovered a third fire was also started in a dumpster on Hibiscus Street.
All three fires were successfully extinguished by Fire Rescue and there were no injuries resulting from any of the above incidents.
Howard D. Ballew (W/M, DOB 02/17/56) has been identified through surveillance video as the individual responsible for these fires. Ballew has been apprehended and is being charged with Second Degree Arson.
This investigation is ongoing and more information will be provided if it becomes available.
