Flood Wall Proposal For South Sioux City’s Scenic Park

Jan 14, 2020 | ,

(KVHT) – Flooding has plagued South Sioux City’s Scenic Park and the surrounding areas for a large part of the last two years, and city leaders are proposing a wall to prevent further flooding repair costs. South Sioux City has had to shell out thousands of dollars over the past several years to cover flood damage. City Administrator Lance Hedquist says the wall is a step toward saving tax-payers money. This potential wall would span about 2,000 feet and cover the entire Scenic Park campground and end near the baseball fields. The city has started taking the proper steps to get the wall approved and start construction. Approval needs to come from the Nebraska Emergency Management Agency. If the project is approved, the city’s next step would be to establish the costs, timeline, and benefits of the wall.
