Clay Center Vehicle Fire Under Investigation
Clay Center, Kan. — At 8:17 p.m. Monday, Clay Center Firefighters responded to a report of a truck on fire in the 1400 block of Blunt Street at East Gate apartments.
Upon arrival, fire crews discovered a 2000 Dodge Ram pickup on fire. According to Clay Center Fire Chief Johnny Ihnen, the minivan parked next to the pickup received minimal burn damage from secondary exposure, but the pickup was a total loss.
Ihnen said the pickup had been parked for around six months.
Evidence discovered by fire personnel on the scene was deemed suspicious and rendered further investigation.
As a result, law enforcement and the Kansas State Fire Marshall were called to the scene to investigate. This investigation is ongoing.
Crews cleared the scene around midnight.
