Fairwinds Renews Its Partnership with PGA Hope Program For Veterans
For the second year in a row, Fairwinds Golf Course and St Lucie County are proud to be partnering with the PGA HOPE (Helping Our Patriots Everywhere) to help disabled veterans through the game of golf.
Beginning Friday, Oct. 18 at 9:30 a.m., county staff at Fairwinds staff will work with 21 local veterans to enhance their physical, mental, social and emotional well-being through golf. Organized by the South Florida PGA Foundation, the HOPE program is the flagship military program through the PGA of America foundation. As many veterans struggle with the transition back into civilian life, the game of golf delivers a new level of enjoyment and physical activity.
Participants will graduate from the program at the completion of eight weeks of free golf instruction. This will include a scramble tournament amongst the participants and a small reception celebrating their accomplishments on Friday, Dec. 6.
“St. Lucie County and Fairwinds Golf Course has a long, dedicated history to our military personnel from the fact the we are the birthplace of the Navy SEAL to the work our County Commissioners have done to get the state’s 7th Veterans Nursing Home constructed in Tradition. Fairwinds staff is pleased to be able to work with the PGA HOPE program again this fall,” said Fairwinds Manager Mark Cammarene.
Located at 4400 Fairwinds Drive off of U.S. 1 in northern Fort Pierce, Fairwinds Golf Course is an award-winning public course managed by St. Lucie County’s Parks, Recreation and Facilities Department. For additional details or to make a reservation visit www.fairwindsgolf.com or call 772-462-4653.
