The Catskill Mountain Club in partnership with many regional groups will host numerous events over a 10-day celebration of the Catskill Park. Whether you prefer hiking, paddling, cycling, mountain biking, art, science, cultural studies, fishing, service, yoga or more, we’ll have something for you. Join us for a leisurely walk with Justin Wexler of Wild Hudson Valley, who grew up exploring the eastern Catskills and reading John Burroughs. He is an ethnoecologist, studying the relationship between local native peoples and their lands. Join us for this nature walk to explore the natural world as understood by the indigenous peoples of the Northeast. Topics range from folklore related, to the autumn songbird migration, to the medicinal and edible properties of various fruits, fall hunting tactics and more.

We’re excited to say that this year we will feature a silent auction of a broad range of great prizes donated by area artists and businesses. Visit www.catskillmountainclub.org for details. During the social hour you can place your initial bids anonymously. After a three-course dinner buffet, including options for vegetarians, you’ll have a brief chance to check on the auction and make final offers.
The after dinner speaker will be local author Will Nixon. Will is co-author of the local best seller Walking Woodstock and has published several volumes of poetry. He has been hiking the Catskills woods for many years and finds inspiration along the trails.

INVASIVE SPECIES AT LONGYEAR FARM DAY
Join CRISP staff at the 6th annual Longyear Farm Day, held at Longyear Farm in Woodstock. The afternoon will feature crafts, local foods, and music. CRISP and Catskill Center staff will be talking invasive plants, insects, and animals, best practices for managing them, and making invasive species crafts from 12-4, and will be leading an educational invasive species walk from 12:30 to 1 pm.
