UPDATE: Reyes gets 20 years for plea deal for killing mother and young son
At a Press Conference this morning, Wayne County District Attorney Michael Calarco and Wayne County Sheriff Barry Virts announced the details of the plea deal arrangement after the admission of guilt from Alberto Reyes for causing the death of then-girlfriend Selena Hidalgo-Calderon and her 14-month-old son, Owen Hidalgo-Calderon.
The young mother and child disappeared from a farm off of Joy Road in Sodus in May of 2018. Reyes was eventually charged with two counts of second-degree murder in connection with their disappearance.
Reyes will serve 20 years in a New York State Correctional facility before a follow up of 5-years of post release supervision. However, Reyes faces deportation back to his home nation pending his release from the State correctional system.
As recently as July, Reyes and his attorneys were working to reach a plea deal on the federal charges he faces for allegedly having a forged social security card and re-entering the country illegally after being deported twice before.
