Henderson Police Investigate Fatal Collision
Henderson, Nevada (YN) – On April 12, 2019, at about 6:50p.m., Henderson Police and Fire were dispatched to the area of Boulder Highway and Sunset Road in reference to a multivehicle-pedestrian rollover collision.
Preliminary investigation revealed an adult male driver of a 1992 Jeep Wrangler was traveling northbound Boulder Highway approaching Sunset Road at a high rate of speed. The driver of the Jeep failed to stop for the steady red traffic signal at that intersection, striking a pedestrian, a bicyclist, and 2 additional motor vehicles.
The bicyclist, the pedestrian, and other involved occupants sustained minor injuries.
The Jeeps’ driver was transported to Sunrise Trauma Center in critical condition.
Henderson Police Fatal Investigators learned that the Jeep’s driver succumbed to his injuries the morning of April 14. His name will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s Office after next of kin notifications.
The intersection of Boulder Highway and Sunset Road was closed for approximately four hours while the investigation was conducted.
Preliminary investigation indicates that speed and impairment did appear to be factors.
The male’s death is the fourth traffic related fatality this year in The City of Henderson.
