Nebraska Governor Urges Caution As Flooding Continues

Mar 14, 2019 | ,

(KVHT) – In Nebraska where the significant weather events and flooding have impacted that state, Governor Pete Ricketts and state agencies are cautioning residents to watch the weather and waterways in their communities closely in the coming days. Officials are bracing for historic levels of flooding in communities that may not have been hit yet. Following an emergency declaration on Tuesday evening, the Nebraska Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) opened the State Emergency Operation Center (SEOC) in response to the weather-related hazardous conditions affecting the state. NEMA officials and partner agencies are monitoring conditions, fielding calls from citizens and community partners, and providing information and resources to keep citizens safe. The Nebraska National Guard has opened the Broken Bow Armory for any evacuated citizens, and other armories in the state are available if needed. The Nebraska State Patrol also reminds residents that the Highway Helpline is available 24 hours a day for motorists in need of assistance.
