Former Geneseo athletic trainer arrested for rape now facing federal charges
Conesus, N.Y. – A former athletic trainer who contracted with the Geneseo Central School District is now facing federal charges.
State Police charged Austin Pratt in January, accusing him of raping a child under the age of 17.
Federal prosecutors have now charged Pratt, 30, with enticement of a minor and production of child pornography.
Prosecutors say Pratt began texting a teenage victim in November 2018 regarding an injury. That, prosecutors say, later spiraled into exchanges of nude photographs using Instagram. According to the complaint, Pratt and the victim later engaged in sexual intercourse at the teen’s home.
Pratt appeared in federal court Wednesday morning. He is due back in court Thursday for a detention hearing.
If convicted, Pratt faces up to five years in prison and a possible fine of $250,000.
