Man jumps through glass window in attempt to evade police

An Ontario County Sheriff’s Deputy was injured Wednesday after he and other law enforcement officers attempted to arrest a suspect wanted for allegedly selling crack cocaine in the city of Canandaigua.

As police attempted to take 49 year old Howard Hill into custody on Adelaide Avenue, he fled on foot. The Canandaigua man forced his way into a home and jumped out of a closed, second story glass window in an attempt to evade police. As Hill attempted to get off the ground after his jump, he was taken into custody. He was treated and released at Thompson Hospital and was charged with criminal sale of a controlled substance, assault and burglary.

The other suspect, 37 year old JohnDray Carter, of Rochester, is charged with criminal sale of a controlled substance.

The deputy that suffered a shoulder injury while trying to apprehend Hill was treated at Thompson Hospital and released.
