Canon City Considers “Urban Deer” Hunt

Town deer and what to do about them is a topic of discussion in every town in the Upper Arkansas River Valley. A special deer hunt inside the boundaries of Canon City is getting serious consideration.
Debate is moving forward because Canon City council members say they are hearing more from locals in favor than against. It is being considered as a way of reducing what many think is too many deer causing safety issues and destroying landscaping.
The earliest an “urban deer hunt” could take place is 2019.
